things to do
Every since it was featured in the classic surfing movie Endless Summer II, Tamarindo has been a "can't miss" vacation destination in Costa Rica. It has grown into the largest of the small beach towns, but you can still walk everywhere, as the town is only 1 kilometer long.
Tamarindo is a hub for other tourist destinations in Costa Rica. You can visit the tropical rain forest, shop in the market, visit a volvano, swim at the beach or take a zip line — all in the same day.
Try scuba diving, surfing lessons or snorkelling from a catamaran sailing boat. Take a day or overnight tour to a volcano, hot springs, rain forest area. Try your hand at deep sea fishing, go bird-watching to see beautiful tropical birds, or spend long, uninterrupted hours beachcombing for shells on the endless beaches.
